Direction Law works with a number of charities and voluntary organisations within both our local community and the sectors within which we work, details of some of these activities are set out below:
More Than Homes
Since November 2020, our charity of choice is the More Than Homes fund. Set up in 2020 with the Trussell Trust and Accent Housing, the More Than Homes Grant Fund aims to raise an initial target of £1million towards the rising number of people claiming universal credit and an increase in demand of over 80% at food banks across the UK as a direct result of the Covid-19 crisis.
To help raise money for this worthwhile charity, all of our conveyancing clients have the opportunity to enter into the Conveyancing Foundation Charity Free Legal Fee Competition, which is designed to generate revenue for charity and to offer clients the opportunity to win £500.00 towards the cost of their conveyancing. So far in 2021 our clients have raised £5,570.
Canterbury Festival 2021
We are delighted to be Corporate Members of this year’s Canterbury Festival which runs from 16 – 30 October. We have supported the festival for a number of years and are pleased to sponsor them again this year.
At Direction Law, we use watercoolers from AquAid. By working with AquAid we have been given the opportunity to help those less fortunate than ourselves, because with each purchase an automatic donation is made to the Africa Trust.
These funds are used to build ‘Elephant Pumps’ – a modified version of an age old Chinese rope pulley system. In 2020 one such pump has been installed in Africa on our behalf, and will be a much needed source of clean and fresh drinking water for the community.
Kent Wish Foundation
On Sunday 15 March 2020, Scott Walker, business development executive at Direction Law walked across 1,000 degree coals, and raised £275 for local charity Kent Wish Foundation.
The Kent Wish Foundation create the opportunities and platforms for children with life limiting illnesses to receive that one dream that they have always wanted, whether it be an amazing holiday or meeting an idol.
For a number of years Direction Law has supported the annual Older People’s Christmas Party which is organised by the Octavia Foundation. Their Head of Fundraising Naomi Roper has emailed us to say:
“Thanks to the generosity of supporters like yourselves, we were able to accommodate 120 guests from the boroughs of Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea, all of whom are vulnerable or isolated.”
