Community

Direction Law works with a number of charities and voluntary organisations within both our local community and the sectors within which we work, details of some of these activities are set out below:

Mental Health UK

In 2022, our charity of choice is Mental Health UK (Registered Charity no 1170815).  It is reported that 1 in 4 people in the UK has experienced a mental health problem. Mental Health UK aims to give people the tools they need to live their best possible life. By providing advice, information and support they help people better understand and manage their mental health.

To help raise money for this worthwhile charity, all of our conveyancing clients have the opportunity to enter into the Conveyancing Foundation Charity Lotto, which is designed to generate revenue for charity and to offer clients the opportunity to win £500.00 towards the cost of their conveyancing. In 2022 our clients and staff managed to raise a total of £7,936.

Anchorians FC – Leopards U10

We are delighted to be a Community Partner of Anchorians FC – an award winning community football club in Gillingham. From September 2022 we will also be sponsoring the U10 Leopards team for 2 seasons, with the team moving up an age group in the second year to become the U11 Leopards.

We look forward to following their progress across the seasons!

Canterbury Food Bank

Canterbury Food Bank began as a community project developed by a group of local churches in 2011, and then registered as a charity in 2013.

Their vision is ‘Caring for local people in crisis’ and they provide three-day food parcels to individuals and families in short term financial crisis across Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay and surrounding villages.

We have a bin in our Canterbury office to collect food donations on an on-going basis.

More Than Homes

In 2021, our charity of choice was the More Than Homes fund.  Set up in 2020 with the Trussell Trust and Accent Housing, the More Than Homes Grant Fund aims to raise an initial target of £1million towards the rising number of people claiming universal credit and an increase in demand of over 80% at food banks across the UK as a direct result of the Covid-19 crisis.

To help raise money for this worthwhile charity, all of our conveyancing clients have the opportunity to enter into the Conveyancing Foundation Charity Free Legal Fee Competition, which is designed to generate revenue for charity and to offer clients the opportunity to win £500.00 towards the cost of their conveyancing. To find out more, click here.

Through entering the Conveyancing Foundation’s Charity Lotto, our clients raised £10,450, which is a great achievement.

Canterbury Festival

We are delighted to be corporate members of the Canterbury Festival which takes place in October. We have supported the festival for a number of years and are pleased to sponsor them.

AquAID

At Direction Law, we use watercoolers from AquAid. By working with AquAid we have been given the opportunity to help those less fortunate than ourselves, because with each purchase an automatic donation is made to the Africa Trust.

These funds are used to build ‘Elephant Pumps’ – a modified version of an age old Chinese rope pulley system. In 2020 one such pump has been installed in Africa on our behalf, and will be a much needed source of clean and fresh drinking water for the community.
